On the other hand there’s south from Madrid to Granada via Seville. Granada: just its name conjures exotic visions of Moorish Andalusian Spain. Its greatest artistic wealth is in its Moorish art, particularly the stunning 13th and 14th century Alhambra and the Generalife, declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1984 – filled with serene courts, gracious gardens and fountains. Our Victours tour is complete with a half-day outing to the Alhambra. Not to be overlooked is Seville. The Alcázar, previously a Moorish palace with romantic gardens facing the Cathedral of St Mary, which is one of the largest gothic cathedrals built, and the Archivo General de Indias (General Archive of the Indies) are all UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Then there’s the splendid, panoramic Plaza de España, built for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. Our tour also includes a Flamenco show in Seville, where you’ll be entranced by flaring, ruffled skirts and flashing castanets.
