A Taste of Greece

Day 1

You will be transferred upon arrival to Hotel Athens Gate or Athenium Callirhoe. There will be a welcome reception at one of the best seafood restaurants in Athens, Milos. The chef or owner, in partnership with your Chef Escort will talk about local seafood.
After dinner, the group can move to the roof top bar and enjoy a breathtaking view of Athens along with a beverage.

Day 2

Day off to relax or explore on your own.

Day 3

After an early breakfast, a bus will take you on a half-day sightseeing tour of Athens. After the tour, the group can choose to walk around and shop in the fabulous stores of Athens or go back to the hotel to enjoy a swim or take in a massage. In the early evening, the group will meet in the lobby and walk across the street to one of the finest Cretan restaurants in Athens: Alatsi. Along with a variety of different samplings of the Cretan diet, we will have a full explanation from their chef and your Chef Escort. For the rest of the evening, enjoy drinking Raki wine with the locals.

Day 4

cooking in athens Start your day with breakfast. In the early afternoon you will be transferred from the Hotel to the Airport for your short flight to Mykonos, where you will be picked up and taken to the Mykonos Grand Hotel. Enjoy the swimming pool or the beach until an early evening poolside reception with a few appetizers and wine or beer. The balance of the evening is free.

Day 5

Day off.

Day 6

After breakfast, you’ll be taken on a half-day tour of Delos Island. After the tour, you will be transferred to Ithaki restaurant where the group will meet the restaurant’s fishing boat to view what will be on the menu for the upcoming dinner. Your Chef Escort will talk about the seafood that is caught that day. It may be possible to learn how to make the Traditional Seafood soup “Kakavia”. You’ll go back to the Hotel for a short rest and then return to Ithaki restaurant for a seafood dinner on the beach of Ornos. The rest of the evening is free.

Day 7

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the port for a ferry ride via Paros, Naxos and Ios, to Santorini. Upon arrival in Santorini, you will be taken to the Hotel Kallisto. Relax for the balance of the afternoon. Enjoy a welcome reception on the terrace of the hotel with a few glasses of wine and appetizers. The balance of the evening is free.

Day 8

greek food After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the vineyard of Sigalas for a tour with a sampling with appetizers.Then you’ll be taken to Oia for a few hours of walking around in this fabulous village. The rest of the evening is free.

Day 9

After breakfast, you will be taken to the famous archeological site of Akrotiri and the Museum of Prehistoric Thira. You will have lunch in a picturesque seafood restaurant, situated in a beautiful area that many tourists do not, unfortunately, get to see. Transfer back to the hotel.

Day 10

After breakfast, you will be taken to the dock for an early morning ferry to Heraklion Crete, where you will embark on a 3-hour bus ride to Chania. Check in to the Casa Delfino, where the group will have a welcome reception in its historic courtyard. Your evening is at leisure.

Day 11

Day off.

Day 12

After breakfast, you will be taken to the archeological site of the Palace of Knossos. After sightseeing there, you will have a tour and tasting at the vineyard of Boutari. After the tasting, you will then enjoy a lunch of Cretan cuisine. Next, transfer to Rethymnon for a walkabout and an authentic Cretan Dinner, at the Pigadi.

Day 13

Morning Off. In the early afternoon, the group will meet at the hotel, where your Chef Escort will show you how to make a few Cretan specialties. In the evening, you’ll be taken to a famous restaurant, Nexterida, where you will taste a variety of nouveau Cretan cuisine. Your Chef Escort will explain the variety of dishes that will be served. The rest of the evening is free.

Day 14

After breakfast, you will be taken to Therissos, where you will go to a cheese factory. You will have a short time to walk around and enjoy the clean mountain air of Crete. Dinner is at Therrissos tavern. After dinner, transfer to an Olive Oil Grove, Biolea, for a tour of the plant and a tasting. After Biolea, the group will be transferred to Chania to enjoy the last evening in Greece.

Day 15

Breakfast and transfer to the airport of Chania.
