Bordeaux: Chateaux and Wine

Day 1: Bordeaux, Saint-Émilion and wine tour

Recently declared a UNESCO world Heritage site, the historical city centre of Bordeaux has much to offer: The Grand Theatre, the Allées de Tourny, the Place de Quinconces, the Saint-André Cathedral, the Town Hall and much more. This morning enjoy a panoramic tour of the city to admire the most well-known monuments as well as some hidden gems. In the afternoon head towards charming Saint-Émilion not only known for its wine but also for the beauty of the village itself. Enjoy a wine tasting session in a Classified Growth Château of the appellation and then visit of the village. Finally, have some free time for personal discovery.

Day 2: Medoc: Full day wine tour

Come and admire the lowlands of the Medoc, which resemble the Dutch polders. The most famous red wines in the world are produced in this unique geological setting. Along the châteaux route, you will come across such pearls as Château Margaux and Mouton Rothschild. During your day, visit and experience wine tastings in 2 famous Classified Growths of the Medoc, then enjoy the “5 Bordeaux wines” tasting session at La Winery wine centre.

Day 3: Graves and Sauternes: Full day wine tour

Graves is the only sub-region which is famous for all three of Bordeaux's three main wine types - reds, dry whites and sweet wines - although red wines dominate the total production. In the morning, visit and experience wine tastings in 2 of the most famous châteaux of the Pessac or Graves appellation. Then, depart for the charming region of Sauternes. Sauternes wines are made from Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle grapes that have been affected by Botrytis Cinerea, also known as noble rot. This causes the grapes to become partially raisined, resulting in concentrated and distinctively flavored wines. Enjoy a visit and a wine tasting session in a prestigious Classified Growth of the appellation to know all about this legendary wine.
